NAPS has been a very active symposium since its inception in 1969 as the Midwest Power Symposium and later renamed as North American Power Symposium in 1986. Thereafter NAPS has been held annually at a university in North America to provide an international open forum for participants from academia and industry. Student participation is the gem of this symposium leading to, graduate and undergraduate student interactions with their peers in other universities, as well as, exchange of knowledge with faculty and industry.
The NAPS 2017 organizing committee cordially invites you to attend and present original research results at the 49th North American Power Symposium, which will be hosted by the West Virginia University at the Marriott Waterfront Hotel from September 17-19, 2017. NAPS welcomes papers on analytical, computational and experimental studies aimed at solving problems related to optimized operation, real-time and near-real-time control, monitoring and data collection, protection with and without distributed generations, reliability as well as economics of power and energy systems along with recent trends in connected and smart cities, DC grids and micro-grids with its components. Accepted and presented papers will be made available through IEEE Explore Digital Library database.
At NAPS we will champion the motivation to stimulate budding researchers and provide them inspiration. Since students are at the core of most research their development and interaction enhances opportunities for novel research ideas, which is encouraged in the symposium through the student paper competition awards. The symposium includes a significant student support program that provides subsidized registration fee, free housing, and social activities other than the student awards. All registered students will be automatically enrolled for three nights of housing support.
