Masterclass in Paediatric Palliative Medicine - 2 days

14–15 September 2017
Cambridge, United Kingdom

This masterclass provides an overview of palliative medicine and is designed for all paediatricians supporting children with illnesses they cannot ‘cure’ as well as providing insight to the specialty for trainees. As such paediatricians and trainees working in the community, paediatric neurology, oncology, respiratory and gastroenterology will all find take away messages to help in their area of speciality.  The role of Children’s Hospices will be explored with a visit to Milton Children’s Hospice.  Learning will be from direct teaching, but mainly by small group work allowing individual thoughts and practice to be explored.

The scientific committee will be led by Dr Mike Miller, formerly Consultant Paediatrician at St Martin's Hospice and currently Specialist Advisor for end of life care for the Care Quality Commission and Dr Pat Sartori, Consultant in Paediatric and Palliative Support Care, Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
