The coming into effect of the National Environmental Management has brought about a significant policy shift for waste management in Africa. This introduced the waste management hierarchy approach which advocates for waste avoidance, reduction, reuse, recycling, recovery as priority options before treatment and disposal of waste, which is the last resort.
NEMA serves as one of the catalysts aimed at fast tracking the implementation of integrated waste management systems as envisaged by the paper bags use and introduction of biodegradable alternatives thus emphasis on management of waste throughout its life cycle.
However, waste management can and will only be possible if both public and private sectors work close. Themed “From Waste to Resource: Enhancing Business Partnerships and Innovation for Sustainable Waste Management and Recycling in Africa” Africa Waste Management Business & Innovation Conference & Recycling Exhibition 2018 couldn’t be timelier. Schedule for 14th and 15th March 2018
The aim of this conference is to provide a forum for Public and Private Sector and all those involved and with an interest in the future of waste management with opportunity to explore and discuss issues in the topics on Waste Management
